Calling for "Sanctified Warriors"
September 21, 2016
We use the term “Sanctified Warrior” fairly frequently, and a friend recently asked for a definition. Think of it this way …
The story is told that David Livingstone, pioneer missionary serving in Central and Southern Africa, was contacted by a missionary society that wanted to send more men to help him. They had one important question, however: "Have you found a good road into your area yet?”
Dr. Livingstone replied in a letter: “If you have men who will only come if they know there is a good road, I don’t want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”
We could not have said it better. The men (and women) of Livingstone's breed are the “Sanctified Warriors” Concilium endeavors to call, raise up, train, and release to other ministries.
Many of these individuals are current and former military or law enforcement, but that is by no means a prerequisite. Many others are men and women who have the heart of a lion and want both challenges and opportunities to serve the Lord beyond handing out bulletins or parking cars on Sunday morning (as important as those things can be to a church congregation). Others are adolescents coming out of high school who are attempting to forge a radical trajectory that will launch them into a lifetime of service to the King in places and situations few would dare to enter.
The prerequisites are as follows: a strong heart for Christ, personal commitment to the Gospel, and willingness to risk and sacrifice both comfort and justice for themselves so others may hear and live.
Those are the men and women we want to serve with, and that's the call we extend to you! So others may hear ... and live!!! (SOMHAL)
